What happened to direct modeling nx6

What happened to direct modeling nx6

What happened to direct modeling nx6

(OP)
Hi. I am using NX3 and starting to do some work on NX6. One feature I use a lot is Move Region in nx3. I can't find it in NX6. There are similar commands like it under Synchronous modeling...but no move region. Does anyone know if it is still there, and if not, what would be the work around?

Thanks in advance...
Adam

RE: What happened to direct modeling nx6

I can not recall back to NX3 as I no longer have that version loaded on my PC but in the direct modeling menu in NX5 there is a feature called 'offset region' which is also available in the Synchronous Modeling pull down menu in NX6.  This feature works well for moving a surface that does not have a single offset direction/vector (i.e contoured or rounded surfaces)

I know what you are talking about, but with the move region command I can do things like "stretch" a spool to a larger length, and the head and hole all go with it. I can't seem to figure out how to do this in 6. I use it on unparamaterized solids that need to be "stretched".

I will play around with the offset region and see if I can get it to work.

Thanks!

I use move face and pull face all the time.  You can window around the features you want to move and it will take all of them.

RE: What happened to direct modeling nx6

I think under move faces that you can select tangent faces or apply it to a region. Post the introduction of synchronous modelling there is the ability to replace on face with many geometry permitting, which is quite an improvement in itself.

Suffice to say that in NX-6 or 7 I'm not wanting for NX-3 style tools back.

Best Regards

Move face in sychronous modeling was the ticket.
Thanks all :)
