Where can I find system variables like file name or page 3 in drafting

Where can I find system variables like file name or page 3 in drafting

Where can I find system variables like file name or page 3 in drafting

I am automating my BOM and Title block...there used to be a way to see the list of UG system variables for drafting page number, color, or material?

Open your User Documentation and do a search on 'Automatic Text'.  The second item on the list of results should take you to a list of automatic text elements which you can insert into a drawing which will reflect the values as defined in that list, such as part name, drawing sheet size, current sheet number, total number of sheets, drawing units, etc.

Great info, but the previous thread still begs the question of why some info of this type (automated drawing setup) is "tribal knowledge" with little or no (or at least difficult to access) formal documentation.

The 'Automatic Text' feature, at least using the list of items found in the User Documentation that I pointed to you in my previous replay, was implemented in NX 5.0.

If you look at my name you can probably guess what my e-mail address is.

RE: Where can I find system variables like file name or page 3 in drafting

I don't use seperate drafting file. The drafting is inside the same model file - that's why I like UG so much. How am supposed to retrieve the part name(as an attribute) and use <W@___> as the text?
