NX locks up when updating model.

NX locks up when updating model.

NX locks up when updating model.

I've got a large model part - it's a welded frame.
Multiple extrusions are shelled, then mirrored then all united.
Then various holes are arrayed and mirrored.

When I suppress the last mirror then it updates the part, gets 80% of the way there and then after a few seconds the progress update slider disappears Then it just sits there doing nothing for minutes, so I have to kill it via the task manager.

Is there anything I can do to improve this situation? Or do I just have to be very wary of this model?

NX seems to not like mirroring arrayed features or arraying mirrored features.

Well, a bit of cunning has allowed to make some progress.
I suppressed everything in the model, allowed it to update and then unsuppressed everything except for the last 2 features. I've now got what I wanted - the last 2 features suppressed whilst I add some more holes.

RE: NX locks up when updating model.

I've been down that same road too.
You have to do what you seem to be doing. Find what feature is causing the problem, and then get rid of that feature.
Make try examining your body to see what kind could be causing the problem:
Analysis > examine geometry > use a rectagle to slect everything > examine geometry (near bottom)

RE: NX locks up when updating model.

Often boolean features do affect updating performance. Sometimes when iterating towards a final result you are as well to suppress the one that is causing most problems until you're ready to commit to the change.
