Loss of color scheme when assy convert to iges

Loss of color scheme when assy convert to iges

Loss of color scheme when assy convert to iges

(OP)
How ya doin,

My problem is that i have a modular terminal block, that needs to be color coded.  So i have my assy color coded, saved, and ready to be converted.  To check that the assy colors work right, i closed the window, erase all non-display, open it back up and the colors are there.  Now i know that the parent child is what ever color the base file is that what the assy would be, my base color is green.  The assy defualt was green, b/c of the base file color.  I do the conversion, open the iges, and the color is the progams default gray.  Anyone how to keep the color code the way i would like it and not default gray?

Thanks again,
~~Joe

RE: Loss of color scheme when assy convert to iges

Don't know if IGES is capable of color data.  One of the STEP versions is, AP 214 I believe.  Make sure you use that and not AP203 which does not control color.

hmmm...i cant seem to be able to have the option.  Am i doin this right, im going to save a copy, and then looking down in the drop-down for the stp, or step, and cant find either.  Im using wf5.0.

RE: Loss of color scheme when assy convert to iges

If you can't find them, then your company has not purchased the STEP option.

I only have WF4 but that sounds correct.  I'm pretty sure STEP is standard with all license pack these days.  If you have IGES you should have STEP.

To get AP 214 you need to set this in your config file:

step_export_format ap214_cd or ap214_is

I just tried it and the colors came in.

dgallup,

yea, thats what i also thought, cuz i had wf3 before this and clearly saw .stp, .step file extentions.  Now the reason i got the upgrade, is because my computer crashed and burned, hard, haha.  So i got my bosses cpu, and he got the new one, not im complainin, this thing is crazy quick compared to my last one.  But yea, when that happend i lost my config file, so i've been piecing it together as we've gone along.

ill let you know how it turned out.

ok im confused pro/e wont give me the option to save as .stp or .step file.

But it'll me open them.  Never simple with them is it.

RE: Loss of color scheme when assy convert to iges

Try this

step_appearance_layers_groups yes

jebiselcuka,

thanks for what ever that did, considering i still cant save as an .stp file, but somehow defining that as yes, made the iges files stay the parent color.  wierd.
