Does anyone know the minimum design tanker truck undercarriage clearance?  I am designing a ramp into a loading dock that will also serve to contain the volume of the tanker truck.  The ramp will be 8.5 feet at 20% grade, a one foot level top and 4.5 feet at 18% grade.  The loading dock is at a 1% grade.

RE: Loading Dock

I recall a military refuler (R-11 I believe) has a minimum clearance of 11.5".  You need to know distance betweeen axles (wheelbase) and clearance of design vehicle to determine if grades are adequate. Assuming you are saying a rise of 20% then a drop of 18%, it looks too abrupt.

RE: Loading Dock

Your proposed grade of 20 percent looks excessive.

I would think an upper limit of 12 percent is more logical
