In our building the outside face of the docklevel is 36 inches from the face of the building. How wide should the shelter be?

RE: truckwell shelters

How wide do you want it to be?  Most of the canopies I design are at least 5 feet wide.

A 36-inch wide dock is pretty narrow.  Better to have either wider or no dock.

Ron thank you for responding, but I must clarify my question. It is not the width that I am looking for but the depth of the shelter.Obviously the screen would have to be 36 inches (from the face of the building to the face of the dock level) but the additional depth is my problem. There is a decline in the approach. Thanks

RE: truckwell shelters

Provided you have adequate clearance height for the trailers, I would carry the canopy out beyond the dock face by at least 12 inches.  That won't stop rain from an angle, but it will provide shading and divert most of the rain.
