Shell side hydrotesting exchangers
Shell side hydrotesting exchangers
(OP)
Just wondering if anyone could comment on whether the tubes of an exchanger typically are designed to withstand the external pressure created by a shell side test. In other words, if the shell is designed at 400 psig and tested at 520 psig against the non pressured tubes but the tubes are only designed at 250 psig MAWP is there not risk of crushing or flattening the tubes due to the external pressure put on them?
