Has anyone tried to install AutoCAD 2007 (or older) on a Windows 7 system?

RE: AutoCAD 2007 under Windows 7

I've discussed this with a number of users who said that they were able to run their 32bit programs (older autocad included) successfully in -XP compatibility mode. I'm told that Win-7 (&VISTA) need "PRO" level to have the ability to do this. I'll also be interested in anyone's actual experience, as I'm looking to upgrade to WIN-7/64 but I'm hoping to avoid paying to upgrade my licensed AutoCAD at the same time.
