Need equipment to manually switch 16 - 515 VDC circuits

Need equipment to manually switch 16 - 515 VDC circuits

(OP)
I am looking for a solution to manually or automatically switch:

14ea 515 VDC circuits 140 amp
2ea 515 VDC circuits 44 amp

to a single combined output, switchable between two loads.

Any help or suggestions would be GREAT!

Try Hubbell. Their line of former Euclid Crane controls might have something suitable.

PV? (Photovoltaic)

I have seen traction contactors being used sucessfully in such applications.

RE: Need equipment to manually switch 16 - 515 VDC circuits

There were a couple of threads a few weeks ago regarding generator field contactors, which is a fairly severe DC switching application. A handful of contactor manufacturers cropped up: Hubbell, Telemechanique, ABB, GE and maybe one or two that I can't think of right now. Might be worth looking for those threads. wink

I would not switch under load. Yes this is for PV.

RE: Need equipment to manually switch 16 - 515 VDC circuits

If you can GUARANTEE that you will not switch under load, then you can use just about anything. But it is a very difficult thing to guarantee. So, go for standard DC contactors. Safe or sorry - that's the question.

I recently did measureents on a 2500 kW PV plant. Panels were switched in groups and DC contactors were used.
