Pressure control loops in liquid lines

Pressure control loops in liquid lines

Pressure control loops in liquid lines

(OP)
I haven't seen much pressure control loops for liquid lines. There are few, and they are mainly related to protect an asset or for safety purposes (very similar to SIS systems).
Am I justified to say:" pressure control loops in liquid lines are few and mainly for protection and not for regulatory control?"

Thanks

RE: Pressure control loops in liquid lines

I use them frequently to feed a "header" which has multiple destinations to charge a fixed quantity (batch) and/or feed another system (continuous).  One of our plants has dozens of them.

Good luck,
Latexman

RE: Pressure control loops in liquid lines

we use pressure control on liquid meter runs to assure that the fluid stays a liquid.

RE: Pressure control loops in liquid lines

shahyar, back pressure control is often used on liquid lines to ensure upstream equipment operates in the liquid phase (without flashing).

shahyar,

Of the 3 responses so far, none stated they were to "protect an asset or for safety purposes".  That may be your local experience, but it may not be the global experience of these systems.

We are all victims of our experience.

Good luck,
Latexman

Make that 4 responses, we use pressure control in liquid lines exactly as CJKruger has stated above, to maintain the upstream equipment in the liquid state and prevent flashing.

RE: Pressure control loops in liquid lines

In gasoline in-line blenders we had pressure controllers in the blend header after the static mixer. They are regulatory controls used to ensure mixing and not for safety purpose.

Thanks! I learned a lot.
