Different Cohesive section

Different Cohesive section

(OP)
Hello Everyone,

I am modeling cohesive layer(defined as a part) resting on a rigid body. I am trying to give different cohesive properties to the same cohesive layer. So I created 6 cohesive sections by partition. 3 sections have one cohesive property and the other 3 section have the second cohesive property. I have assigned sections through Abaqus/CAE. During the data check itself the job terminates with an error

*CONFLICT for the second cohesive material property. In the input file the Conflict block is for the second cohesive material property only. The data file error is

Keyword *Conflicts is generated by Abaqus/CAE to highlight
changes made via the Keywords Editor that conflict with changes made
           subsequently via the native GUI.

I tried assigning manually in the .inp file as well but it did not work. I am wondering if it is possible to model different cohesive sections for the same cohesive layer.  I have spent quite some time in modeling cohesive layers so my understanding with cohesive properties is quite good.  Your help is really appreciated.

Thank you

Swapnil

RE: Different Cohesive section

Hi,

Different cohesive sections can be assigned to different geometry sections. The error may be due to the assignment of more than one section definition to a geometric area. You can delete all section assignments in part module and delete your .inp file and assign section definitions again. The changes in .inp file, carried out using keyword editor, are not over written by Abaqus and may be causing problems.

Hi Mr.Amubashar,
Thank you so much for your reply. I was wondering if the problem you described could be the cause. So instead of having different cohesive sections to the same layer I created different cohesive parts. For simplicity, I created two cohesive parts and assigned them individual sections and material properties. Then during assembly, I tied the two parts together. But still during data check, it gave the *Conflict error. However, I manually deleted the Conflict words and ran the job again. This time I got ELEMENTS ARE MISSING PROPERTY DEFINITIONS for both the cohesive layers. These errors are pretty weird because I must have defined these stuff over a million times smile. Thank you so much for your reply.

RE: Different Cohesive section

If you can post your cae or inp file, then it might help in locating the error.

I have attached the cae file and the input file. I just generated the input file and it gave the conflict error. I did not edit anything in the keyword editor. Everything was done in CAE. I really appreciate your help. I am not sure how file attachment works so I have uploaded .cae , .jnl and .inp in 3 different post.

Hi,
It's been a while since I have asked about this problem after uploading the inp files. Has anyone come across this problem? I am still dealing with this trouble and would appreciate all your help.

Thank You
Swapnil
