What is the use of an Arrhenius plot?

What is the use of an Arrhenius plot?

What is the use of an Arrhenius plot?

(OP)
Can someone shed some light on the use of plotting a arrhenius plot? Once you have the plot - what next?

RE: What is the use of an Arrhenius plot?

The Arrhenius plot's that I'm familiar with allow you to determine the activiation energy for thermal-stress induced failures.

This then allows to you accelerate such failures by increasing temperature/time or both.

Not unlike the old joke about baking a cake in half the time at double the temperature.

RE: What is the use of an Arrhenius plot?

The arrhenious plot allows you to determine the time and temperature relationship of a process.

Is there something specific you are trying to understand? It's kind of asking, "What's the use of multiplying two numbers?"

RE: What is the use of an Arrhenius plot?

Well, as IRstuff has said, the Arrhenius plot is very usefull when you are trying to find the "Activation Energy" of certain proces, the relationship could involve many variables as function of temperature, i.e. in semiconductor materials you colud trace an Arrhenius plot with Ln(R[ohms]) as function of 1000/T[K], it gives you the info about the excat moment when the free carriers "jump" under certain conditions (i.e. exposure to other energy forms as light, magnetism, etc.)

The Arrhenius plot is always a good tool when you are dealing with proces that involves exponential dependences.
