Limiting Values on Transformer Inrush

Limiting Values on Transformer Inrush

Limiting Values on Transformer Inrush

(OP)
One of our vendors has claimed that they can design the input transformers of their large rectifiers to be able to "limit the AC inrush up to 50% of FLA (68V pk-pk) and 100% asymmetrical max. (136Vpk-pk).

The input voltage to the transformer is 208V, three phase, 3 wire.

Based on the pk-pk voltages stated, I understand that they are reducing the voltage input to reduce the inrush current at the primary. What I am not sure of is the term "100% asymmetrical max.". Does this mean 100% of FLA?

Am chasing the vendor for to clarify this but a separate experience on this forum may also help. Thanks

Its V, Im guessing this might be an wave capture calibration (could havemade more sense to be in mV).

I got confirmation from the vendor that its 68Apk-pk and 136Apk-pk....it then implies that they are trying to design to limit the inrush current to within 50%~100% FLA RMS (or equivalent pk-pk value).

Thanks...

RE: Limiting Values on Transformer Inrush

So sorry, I have no idea what FLA is. Can anyone explain a bit more here, please?

RE: Limiting Values on Transformer Inrush

FLA=Full Load Amps
