steel portal dynamic analysis

steel portal dynamic analysis

(OP)
Hi All

I'm currently trying to do a preliminary design for a steel framed shed which is to take blast loading. I can get an estimate of max displacement ok from the ASCE "Design of Blast Resistant Buildings in petrochemical facilities" book however for element forces this only gives a method for doing SDOF checks. I want to get a better estimate of dynamic member forces if possible but avoid doing a full dynamic analysis at this stage. Probably quite a tall order! I have applied the blast pressures to the frame in a "quasi static" way however I'm sure this hugely overestimates the member forces.

Can anyone suggest a simplified method of estimating member dynamic forces due to blast loading on a steel portal frame?
