blocking a degree of freedom along one axis

blocking a degree of freedom along one axis

(OP)
Hi all

In my application i have to block the translational degree of freedom only along the positive axis ( not allowing movement along Z<0) and leave it free along negative axis

in other way, allow displacement along z<0 and blocking it along z>0;

as i know, abaqus allows only blocking a degree of freedom along the two axis.

how can i do to block a dof along one axis?

Thank u all

RE: blocking a degree of freedom along one axis

Use a GAP element - your problem has now become nonlinear.

AG1980,

The answer to your question would be too long on this forum and I can't remember the exact menus which you need to go though. In the end you will have to work through the menus yourself and maybe do one of the worked examples in the online documentation.

Regards,

gwolf.

better?
