Hello guys,
  My company uses V guides on short conveyors and they have been bending a v guide plate and bending vendors seem to have trouble getting them perfectly flat. So we would use a jack screw from bottom on a bar to level it off.

  We are trying to eliminate the extra support and screw and go to 2 plates that are bent in some form to allow v guide to go between. I was examining it and trying to determine if I need to support plate or if I can dial in a thickness that will only require bolting from the channel.

I was using a simple beam calc and cantilevering from one side, accounting for half the uniform load. I come up with a plate around 7 GA min. This would be worse case, however I know with the plate on the other side it will support this application tremendously. I can't seem to find a equation for this. I am currently going thru school and I haven't learned how to build formulas like this equation. Can anyone here provide me any help on this application?

Are you spanning between the channels with a notched angle or channel?  Some sort of cross-member that the slider pan can be attached to would go a long way toward keeping the sliding surface in-plane.

I have been reviewing this issue and it appears below the slider i would have to run a cross member just below the v-guide and add a spacer between that support and the slider plate to support it from both sides

something like a notched member might be an alternative too.. i was trying to avoid to much extras and keep it as simple as possible but the notched member isnt sounding to bad compared to fabricating a spacer either
