my view boundaries come in too big!

my view boundaries come in too big!

my view boundaries come in too big!

(OP)
If we can't resize the view boundaries (anyone know how?)  Then what are we suppose to do with the big giant boundaries that always come in my drawings?  They get all tangled up with each other.

Thanks!

RE: my view boundaries come in too big!

You can crop the view by sketching a rectangle around the entities you want in the view, then 'insert/drawing view/crop view'.

I will only work on primary views.

RE: my view boundaries come in too big!

LindseyAC,

I'm only speculating here that this is happening in assembly drawings and not part drawings.  If that is so then the large view boundaries could be caused by parts in the assembly that are hidden and not close to the center of the assembly.  If that is the case then try suppressing these hidden parts and the view boundary should be much more reasonable.

Also check for oversized planes and reference geometry.

Using the Autosize option helps reduce those.

RE: my view boundaries come in too big!

I liked it several years ago when resizing a view border was possible. Now I crop them, when needed, same as Ed's suggestion.

RE: my view boundaries come in too big!

We complained about this for years and SW did nothing about this. I constantly add notes and arrows etc. in wrong views because of overlaps of the boundaries. Please tell me this is fix in 2010....?

Colin,

You need to remember to double-click in the view you want to add the sketch/annotation. It's a PITA if you forget to, I know.

RE: my view boundaries come in too big!

I found the previous auto-enlarging/resizing borders to be a PITA. I was forever minimising the damn things. I would be quite happy to see them disappear completely.

RE: my view boundaries come in too big!

Has it been fixed in SW2010?

RE: my view boundaries come in too big!

Fixed as in cannot manually vary the size? ... Yes.

Fixed as in does not enlarge for some obscure reason? ... It hasn't happened to me yet, but the OP hasn't stated which version they are having trouble with, nor the reason.
