Performance problems in ACAD 2010?

Performance problems in ACAD 2010?

(OP)
We have recently installed ACAD 2010, and are experiencing serious performance problems with our computers. Apparently the program puts a major drag on the machines. We are using pretty good machines. Is this normal? Are there any way to improve performance? It's really standing in the way of using the program.
Thanks in advance forany suggestions.

RE: Performance problems in ACAD 2010?

The Autodesk 2010 products are all memory (RAM) hogs. If you have less than 3GB of RAM, your system will struggle. That being said, I did manage to run plain vanilla AutoCAD 2010 on an old laptop that only recognizes 1.2 GB of RAM so it's certainly possible, if not ideal. If you're running any vertical products (Civil 3D, Map 3D) it gets much worse.

Upgrading to Windows 7 is the quick fix (but not necessarily possible given corporate standard, etc.) because the way it manages memory is much better.
