Lightning rods on tower cranes

Lightning rods on tower cranes

(OP)
Pls guys, i want to know the standard for installing lightning rods on tower cranes and the maximum radius a particular tower crane's lighting rod can cover, i.e if 2 tower cranes are not too far from each other, what must be the minimum dist apart btw the tower cranes such that only one lightning rod is sufficient for the two cranes?
Thanks

RE: Lightning rods on tower cranes

Look up the 150 feet radius rolling sphere check in NFPA 780.

Although if the cranes are mobile, I am not sure it applies.

RE: Lightning rods on tower cranes

BS 6651 contains some useful recommendations and worked examples, it's an easier document to apply than the later BS 61024.

When asking code questions it's useful to state where you are located, otherwise we'll assume you're in the US where the majority of people who don't state their location seem to originate from. smile
