AISC Table 6-1

AISC Table 6-1

AISC Table 6-1

(OP)
Folks,
I need some clarification regarding Table 6-1 and Chapter H of AISC 13th edition.

Example: W14x90 column that is subject to axial load and biaxial moment. The column is unbraced 14' in the major axis and is braced at mid-height on the weak axis.

Kly = 7'
KLy,equiv = KLx/ (rx/ry) = 14/1.66 =8.437 [Controls]
Pc = 1125.6 kips

For W14x90 Unbraced length Lb for beam = 14', bx = 1.55 and by = 3.26

I want to make sure that "p" is calculated based on larger of (KLy) or (KLy,eq)=8.834' which would be (0.8872) and not 0.976 based on 14'.

Thanks

Edit: Lb = 7' , bx= 1.55 and by = 3.26

RE: AISC Table 6-1

b would be based on Lb = 7', p would be based on KLy equiv. of 8.347 same as ch 4 tables.
