Cylindrical dimension margin

Cylindrical dimension margin

Cylindrical dimension margin

(OP)
In the "cylindrical" dimension there is the option of using a margin (the center of the cylinder) as one of the entities, and displaying the dimension as the full diameter.

Can I assign something else, other than the center of the cylinder, as the margin?

Is there a way to use a margin, such as this, on a horizontal dimension?
I have a large radius, where the center is off the drawing, that I need to dimension to - and using a margin would make it look cleaner.

I am on NX6

RE: Cylindrical dimension margin

As far as I can recall, Margins can only be used with Cylindrical and Ordinate dimensions.

For a good overview of Cylindrical dimensions and how you can use the Baseline option in various situations may I suggest that you open the User Documentation and do a search on 'Cylindrical Overview'.

The only other thing that is similar is creating a Folded Radius dimension where you can define the radius arrow coming from a point other than the center of the arc/circle being dimensioned.  This is useful when only a segment of arc/circle is in a view and center is offscreen or would extend into and thus interfer with another view on the Drawing.

RE: Cylindrical dimension margin

I guess the main reason that I asked about the margin is because a very long time ago (pre V10?) I think we used to be able to assign margins and give them the distance that they were from a certain origin.
I did read the "cyindrical dimension" doc and it was very helpful.
