Printing 1:1 scale draft

Printing 1:1 scale draft

Printing 1:1 scale draft

(OP)
Hey guys. I'm having trouble printing an exact 1:1 scale document which I created in the drafting environment. It's a small image, about 200mm x 90mm and I want it printed on a A4 size paper. If someone could help me out, it would be much appreciated.

RE: Printing 1:1 scale draft

What's the problem?  Generally when printing to scale, you will want to specify that you want to print an area otherwise you will be printing the entire draft sheet which is often bigger than what your printer can print.  When setting the scale, use your TAB key to enter the Paper Length and Design Length.  If it sticks to 1 to 1 then the area you specified will fit within the printable limits.

Whenever I print the document, it doesn't come out up to scale. When I zoom in or out, the printed size of the image is larger or smaller on the printout. I made sure the scale on the Drawing Area Setup is 1.00 and the paper size is A4 but still it doesn't print the dimensions up to scale. Am I missing something?

RE: Printing 1:1 scale draft

Shouldn't be a problem, but it depends on how accurate you need it to be.

50x25 extrusion, in to a draft, scaled 1:1, print on A4 comes out at 49.95 x 25.15 on paper, which is close for printing. Take in to account that this was printed on a basic LaserJet 1020

RE: Printing 1:1 scale draft

On the Print dialog hit the Settings button - you will probably find the setting is 'Fit to Printer Margins'.
Set it to 'Manual Scale' and 1:1

Karmoh - how did you measure to that accuracy on a print?
The lines are thicker than that!

Where would we be without sat-nav?

Hi beachcomber,

Your right line thickness does play a part.

Firstly I measured with digital calipers and a magnifier, and then as an experiment I used an old profile projector (shadowgraph) that I have in my shop, not a bad result considering.......

Hi Karmoh,
Have you now removed the 'Do Not Scale' note from your drawings? thumbsup2

RE: Printing 1:1 scale draft

Oh yes, funny thing was tried on another printer and got a completely different result.  25.35 x 49.75, plus or minus a micron or two smile funny that! winky smile

RE: Printing 1:1 scale draft

Maybe you need "calibrated" paper and the printer needs to be in a temperature and humidty controlled room blllttt
