Can anyone advise what typically execess wall thickness above nominal  in elbows and tees and reducers can be expected,Does anyone know of any published statistical work

RE: actual pipe wall excess material

You'll have to define "nominal" first. The minimum thickness is not defined by standards for these components except at the weld ends where they are required to match the pipe thickness to which they will be welded.

RE: actual pipe wall excess material

To add to the above, the excess wall can  be determined without the need for any published work or analysis by taking a standard Tee or reducer, check the wall thickness at various locations around the fitting using a D-Meter or UT. The wall thickness can be compared against the pipe Schedule (OD and wall thickness) found in Table 2 of ASME B36.10 for the required pressure rating.

Realize the fitting is higher stressed in service in comparison to straight pipe and requires additional thickness (reinforcement) to prevent failure.
There was an interesting paper on design of integrally reinforced fittings -
"A Code Evaluation of Integrally Reinforced Fittings" by WFI (manufacturer).
