Question for John Baker regarding alternate representations
Question for John Baker regarding alternate representations
(OP)
John,
I was just told that NX6 will not "recognize" UGALTREP datasets. I cannot believe that this could be true because I assume that many companies other than mine are using this functionality and I'd hate to think that our assemblies would suddenly be "hosed". Can you shed some light on this?
Thank you...

RE: Question for John Baker regarding alternate representations
The only problem that I have ever experienced or know of in this regard had more to do with your version of teamcentre than your version of NX. It was that whenever ALTREPs were used the wrong item would be manifest when the assembly is viewed in the JT viewer. Sadly I never found out how this could be fixed or whether in later versions of Teamcenter NX combination it has been addressed. But if this is the only difficulty then the work around solution may be that if only two conditions exist (i.e. as manufactured and as installed) then you need to change or defy any procedural rules to the contrary and always create the as installed first and the as manufactured as the ALTREP.
So the only advice or insight that I have to offer would be that when told something doesn't work you really need to find out what the mode of failure is.

I simply was asking for another opinion on what I thought was a false statement.
