Actually there is a way to do this using KF (I've seen it done at least once but I keep forgetting to ask the person how he managed it) where there was an Expression created which corresponded to one of the 216 colors in the part's color table and when edited, would cause the color to update.  If I can find out anything, I'll try and post what I learn.
