Refractory support plate load limit

Refractory support plate load limit

(OP)
I am performing a preliminary calculation of how much weight a flat annular disk with a hole in it will hold.
I have a copy of "Formulas for Stress and Strain" 5th Edition by Roark and Young that I borrowed from another engineer.  I have determined that I need to use case 2e but I am confused by the whole special cases with the K factors, since this edition doesn't clearly explain where to use them.  I thought it was just me but the books owner wasn't sure either.  Can anyone clear this up for me?

RE: Refractory support plate load limit

I have the VI ed. but it should be the same. Look at the general description for Case 2, at the bginning. The K values (for the case r=b) are described there. These will be used to determine y, M etc in the formulae there.

I saw the equations in the general case but I wasn't sure that the general case applied to all types of edge constraints or if I was to apply the K value to the equations for case 2e.
So please confirm that to determine Mra for case 2e where r0=b I will use M=Kmqa^2?

RE: Refractory support plate load limit

Yes, the K values for case 2e are used in the general formula.
