Algor Assembly Importing Problem

Algor Assembly Importing Problem

Algor Assembly Importing Problem

(OP)
I am trying to import an assembly model into Algor of a simple piston-connecting rod assembly.  If I properly mate all the surfaces in a cad program of choice (been using both Solidworks and PRO E) then I run into a problem after I import the model into Algor.  Even if I do not create a joint at the connecting points of the rod and piston, then somehow they are bonded anyway.  So if I give the crank a prescribed rotation, it tries to bend all components with it as though they are welded together.  However, if I go back into Solidworks (or PRO E) and slightly offset the surfaces, then import again, and give the same rotational displacement, then the crank will spin freely.  After that I can pin all the connection points and they will rotate together with not problems.  So how are the surfaces being bonded together just because they are touching when they are imported?!?!

RE: Algor Assembly Importing Problem

In Algor you can choose how the surface interact. You may have the default contact settings set so they are  bonded. Look up contact in the Algor help.

That fixed my problem I was experiencing. Thank you very much!
