Drawing / drafting AISC members in AutoCad
Drawing / drafting AISC members in AutoCad
(OP)
Does anyone know if there is a program available that will allow you to insert standard 2D AISC members into AutoCAD without opening a separate drawing file and using copy/paste?
We have seen one in the past and no one seems to know the name of it or where it came from. (it disappeared from the office computers years ago.)
The freer the program the better.
Thanks,

One I remember seeing is called "Al's Steel Mill"
Google it

I've used SoftDraft's SteelPLUS for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. While it's not free, it's definitely worth the investment. You can find more information in the following link: http://softdraft.com/steelplus/structural-shapes
One of my favorite features is that, unlike most other programs, it lists all of the section properties necessary for a proper design. This somewhat expedites my design time as I can draft and design simultaneously. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any questions.

I have two routines in my AutoCad, so I know they exist. And many a free. I have been using mine for years, so I don't remember where we found the LISP files.
Mine open a routine in AutoCAD and you can select from any steel shape and size. It creates the top, side, or cross-section view, to scale.
