I know its been asked 1000 times but I want to create a seed file that will come in with my imported paper file and then fill in the title block.

I need to fill in the following:
tool dwg number
tool description
engine no.
process no.
customer
tool owner

I am assuming I need to create a gui interface but not sure how?

RE: filling in the title block atuomaticly

You need a simple interface to enter the attribute values into the model file, GRIP is still useful for this. Then you need a drawing template taht utilizes the attributes.

What is the filename that you use to retrieve the file? Is it the same number that is used for the 'tool dwg number'?

Or you can use the Automatic Text which will automatically use the part file name and other useful information for your drawing templates.  In fact, in later releases, we have enhanced the Siemens supplied template examples to include these automatic text elements predefined in the template files.

In NX4, you can add attributes directly into any file from the File-Properties menu, then select the Attributes tab.

Let me give you a little history, I work with a system admin who never has used UG and has everything locked away and in fact has less then half the menus (even in pull downs) showing... and also can't get to any of the UG Docs... so where is automatic text, and how do I attach the text to the attributes inside the seed file.

RE: filling in the title block atuomaticly

Attributes consist of 2 parts, the Title and the Value.

In the Displayed Part Properties window, select the Attributes tab. At the bottom are 2 text entry windows, one labeled Title, the other Value. Just enter your title and its value and then Apply. You have an attribute in your file.

Where did our paths cross in the past?

As for your admin's paranoia, please explain to him that we would never have called it 'User Documentation' if we had not intended for the user to be accessing it.
