Transformer Help

Transformer Help

Transformer Help

(OP)
I am working on a building that will be supplied with a 480V feed.  For the building I need 240V (3Phase) as well as 208V and 120V.  Are there and Transformers that can supply all of these voltages or will I require two seperate transformers?

Thanks!

RE: Transformer Help

That would require two different transformers.  But three-phase 240V is worth trying to get rid of.  If you have 208V three-phase and 480 V three-phase, there should not be any need for 240 V three-phase, unless there is some very specific need.

This assumes you are in the US.

RE: Transformer Help

If you only need a small amount of 240V 3 phase, the most economical solution may be a 2:1 open delta autotransformer fed from the 480V system.
I concur with dpc on trying to avoid 240V three phase.

Thanks guys.  I thought I would need two transformers.  I actually have to power up a 480v and 240v 3 phase motors.  208v for lights and 120v for standard receptacles.  I just found out that I would need a 240v a couple days ago.

RE: Transformer Help

Most 230V (for use on 240V) motors may be reconnected for 460V for use on 480V systems).
Or;
Can you change out the 230V motors for 200V motors?

RE: Transformer Help

Agreed with the above, anything you can do to eliminate the 240V system will be a good thing.
