A356 Casting Conductivity

A356 Casting Conductivity

(OP)
I am trying to find a source for the %ICAS value for the conductivity of A356 Cast Al.  I am doing an on-wing inspection to check if an overheat condition changed the temper of a casting.  It is A356-T6, but I can't find this value in any of the traditional documents.  I can find hardness from the heat treat specs but not the conductivity.

I am sure I am overlooking it.  Can someone point me in the right direction or provide a value?

RE: A356 Casting Conductivity

I can only find information on wrought alloys, not cast. Try the primer discoloration assessment or find an unaffected A356-part and see if the IACS values differ.

RE: A356 Casting Conductivity

Conductivity of A356-T6 is listed at 40% IACS in Aerospace Structural Metals Handbook (code 3105, page 2, Dec. 1969 revision).
