Blockfont on drawings

Blockfont on drawings

Blockfont on drawings

(OP)
My boss mentioned that he would like to look into using another font for the drawings other than blockfont.
They came from Ideas (before I worked here) and really like the "Ideas-simplex" font.

Are there disadvantages to using a font other than blockfont for drawings?

RE: Blockfont on drawings

You might lose some of the special symbols available in blockfont (such as the ones John recently added) but if you do there is a workaround. The company I am currently at uses the leroy font as it is a bit more pleasing to the eye. We can still use many of the symbols directly (ie $s for the degree symbol or $t for plus/minus). If the font you choose does not allow this you can use control characters to switch to blockfont within the middle of the note, use the special character, then switch back to your font of choice.

Your note would look something like this:

CODE

This text is the default font <F1>this is blockfont<F> this is more default font

<F> is the switch to change fonts, the number corresponds to the font number you wish to use (blockfont may not be #1 as in my example).

RE: Blockfont on drawings

If there were "disadvantages" in using anything other than BLOCKFONT, we would have NEVER given you the option of using something different.  BTW, we include a copy of the Ideas Simplex font with NX so please, feel free to use it.  The only thing that you might run into is that some of the special characters/symbols may not be fully supported.  However, the ones selected from within the Text Editor dialog are all supported with any font, just that some of the special embedded ones might not be.

RE: Blockfont on drawings

There is no disadvantage within NX.

For exporting data to other systems however you may occasionally default to something less sophisticated and loose your original character aspect and spacing settings. Text that once fitted nicely within your title block can appear awry.

That if it is by any description a disadvantage is the only downside I've ever encountered in terms of arguing that the lowest common denominator may have to be observed at all times.

I prefer helios because it looks nice.
