Create a solid model from a FE mesh??

Create a solid model from a FE mesh??

Create a solid model from a FE mesh??

(OP)
Hi all,

I am attempting to create a solid model from a finite element mesh. To do this I have been trying to use the FE modeller component in ANSYS Workbench 12.1.

The mesh was first created in ANSYS 11.0 and exported to FE Modeller as a .cdb file. However, when I attempt to recreate the initial geometry I inevitably encounter a number of problematic faces which causes further problems when I attempt to create a parasolid from the initial geometry.

I was wondering if anyone with a bit more experience with the FE modeller component of Workbench could provide some insight / tips or if anyone else might be aware of a better method for carrying out this task.

Thanking you in advance,
Dave
