Storm Water Management Report - Standard

Storm Water Management Report - Standard

Storm Water Management Report - Standard

(OP)
Is there an industry standard association that provides a format for preparing storm water management reports?  I am based in Ontario Canada and a local Director of Engineering makes a big deal about following standard (He talks in generalities).  Oh by the way you have a P.Geo (Geographer) running an Engineering department. I do not even think he understands the theory in any detail or he would not talk in generalities.

I used to work in the banking industry lending money to developers and we insisted on Environmental reports to follws a Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard for these reports. (This was insisted by the staff Environmental Engineer, yes a bank had a head office engineer).  I was wondering if a similar standard existed for Storm Water Management report.

RE: Storm Water Management Report - Standard

There isn't any one particiular "standard" method for producing a stormwater management report in Ontario and/or Canada.

However, there's a number of key components generally included (i.e. hydrology, hydraulic calcs, drawings, figures, etc). I would recommened refering to your local municipal engineering standards or local conservation authority stormwater management guidelines to get a feel for what is required for submission approval.

For stormwater management in Ontario you should use the MOE SWM guidelines as a starting point.

Hope this helps.
