Expansion vessel

Expansion vessel

(OP)
Hello at everybody,
I'm arranging a expansion vessel in a hot water circuit. Is there a rule for the velocity in the connecting pipe?

Thanks for collaboration

RE: Expansion vessel

The expansion vessel is there to accommodate a water volume as the system heats up, so this is a slow process. You don't say what temperature you are operating at but assuming you operate at 80ºc you will get around a 10% volume increase. It is this volume that will flow through the pipe on heat up, when the system is at temperature there will be no flow through this pipe as the system will be at steady state condition.
Why is the velocity through the pipe so important?
What water volume is the system?

Sorry isn't important the velocity in the pipe but I need to know how the nozzle is sized.

RE: Expansion vessel

Lorenzo, that's such a different question, I recommend starting a new thread.  But first, determine exactly what you're trying to do.
