Customizing and Reording the Parts List (Drafting)
Customizing and Reording the Parts List (Drafting)
(OP)
I am trying to add a customized part list to my print. When I go to Insert > Part List it gives me a default part list.
I see how to add rows, columns, text... things of that nature.
My problem is for one, I want "PC NO" "PART NAME" and "QTY to be on top to match several decades worth of other print.
I also want blank rows below because many times we add stickers and we don't actually have models of the stickers.
When I add a row, it gives me a funny "I" symbol. When I type in that box, it raps two "I"'s around the text.
Also I want what comes up as #1 by default to be #4, etc.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!!!

RE: Customizing and Reording the Parts List (Drafting)
For example by default the order comes up as,
1 605654 Center Disk
2 654658 Bolt
3 987332 Casting
4 852633 Nut
I would like it to come up as
1 605654 Center Disk
2 987332 Casting
3 654658 Bolt
4 852633 Nut
And still associate the callout symbols with the correct number.
Thanks again all!

Basically, you have to cut and paste the rows until you get the order you want. It is cumbersome at best, but it works. I was hoping I could add an attribute to tell it this component is item 1, this is item 2, etc. but that was not to be.
RE: Customizing and Reording the Parts List (Drafting)
You could actually add an Attribute to each Component, say 'ORDER', and give it a unique number/letter value. Then in your Parts List template add a column set to show the values of the attribute 'ORDER' and then using the Sort option, Sort on this Column. Once you have this all set up in your Drawing/Parts Lise template, just change the width of this 'ORDER' column to '0.00'. Now make sure you have everything set up the way you want it since once set to zero width, you'll NEVER be able to select this column again for editing purposes, except when sorting (which is possible since the columns are selected from a list rather then by actual selection), since there will be nothing there to select.
Now this may sound like a kludge, but if you're using Drawing Templates with your Parts List already defined, once you've got this set up, there is very little need to ever worry about it again since you can always enable and disable the sorting so it can just be sitting there waiting to be used. And even if there are no 'ORDER' attributes on your components there is no harm since in that case nothing happens anyway.
