Total power required to compress a volume of Air

Total power required to compress a volume of Air

I need a discharge of 12cu/mtrs of air in 1 minute at a pressure of 1.4 bar, could someone assist me with the calulations to find to total power required in kW to achieve this.

Cheers

RE: Total power required to compress a volume of Air

Probably not.  First, what is a "cu" per "mtrs"?  Is the 1.4 bar the current pressure of these "copper per miters" or the pressure required on the discharge?  Finally, what sort of compression technology are you considering?  A dynamic machine will take a markedly different number of kW than a positive displacement machine.

To get help, it really aids the process to state your problem clearly, with enough data to allow some willing soul to try to solve the problem.  You did neither.

I apologise for the double post but after reading my first one correction was needed & i am unsure how to edit it.
I require a constant flow of 12cu/mtrs of air per minute at 1.4bar & require help to calculate to power required to achieve this..

RE: Total power required to compress a volume of Air

Converting to english units,
12 M^3/min*(40/12)^3 *1.4*14.7*144/33000 HP=1.16HP

RE: Total power required to compress a volume of Air

my simple rule of thumb  compression ratios * 22 * number stages * mmscfd.  compression ratios must be between 1.5 an 4.  if more take square root of ratios an call it a two stage, repeat if more than 16  and take cube root and on...
