How to customize mouse settings and save them

How to customize mouse settings and save them

(OP)
Hello,
Is it possible to customize your mouse the way you want it and save these settings for future use?
Thanks.

RE: How to customize mouse settings and save them

ngpm515,
It depends on what version you are using in the latest versions on MicroStation XM and V8i you can customize the mouse using the file default.btnmenu

The mouse has expanded its functionality greatly by including useful tools to the typical two button mouse with wheel.  The wheel is now referred to the "XButon 1" which, by default, is the pan drag command.  Button assignments are now stored as a file that can be saved by the user, the default name for this file is default.btnmenu.

In the older versions V8 2004 Edition and VJ you could only save the Data, Tentative, and Reset buttons that were stored in the user preference file.

Trouble posting pics...nut this should get you there:

How to: Create Custom Function Keys
1.    Open a project with MicroStation.

2.    Go to 'Workspace>Button Assignments'.

3.    Click 'File' and select 'Save As'.

4.    Browse to your 'P:\' drive and create a new folder called 'MicroStation Settings'.

5.    In the 'File name' field type 'mousekeys.btnmenu' then click 'Save'.

6.    Now click 'File' and select 'Open'.

7.    Choose the 'mousekeys.btnmenu' file you just created and click 'Open'.

8.    The 'Function Keys' menu title should look like this:

9.    You can use any 'Key-in' for the keys.  In the example below Shift+Data will rotate the ACS.

10.     When you have finished editing the keys click 'File' and select 'Save'.

11.     Click 'OK' to finish.

12.     Back in the MicroStation main window go to 'Workspace>Configuration'.

13.     In the 'View/Modify all configuration variables' field find and click 'MS_BUTTONMENU' then click 'Edit'.

14.     The 'Edit Configuration Variable' window appears.  In the 'New Value' field erase the contents and type 'P:\Microstation Settings\mousekeys.btnmenu' then click 'OK'.

15.     Click 'OK' and finally 'Yes' to save the change.

16.    Microstation will now remember your personal Mouse Button settings.
