Silicone to Metal Adhesion Force

Silicone to Metal Adhesion Force

(OP)
Hi im doing an over molding of Metal Pins, with Silicone, to isolate.

Im having some issues due to the Silicone stripping off the metal pin.

There is any ASTM Standard or Industry Standard, to measure the Adhesion Force of the Silicone and Metal ?

RE: Silicone to Metal Adhesion Force

Sand blasting and treating the pins with adhesive is a good start. There are methods of testing but you will have to perform a test based on the geometry of your product. The best adhesion test is one in which the rubber tears before the rubber lets go of the insert.

RE: Silicone to Metal Adhesion Force

ASTM D429, Standard Test Methods for Rubber Property - Adhesion to Rigid Substrates, is commonly used for testing rubber to metal adhesion.
