Printing Text Styles

(OP)
I have encountered a problem with text styles in AutoCAD 2008.

If I use the 'Standard' text style and print using the 'monochrome.ctb' plot settings the text prints out clear and well defined.

if I now create a new text style, using thge txt.shx font just like the 'Standard' text style and the same plot settings the text prints out faintly.

I have noticed that the text style I create has 'Font Styyle' set to 'Regular' while this is greyed out for the 'Stanndard' text style.
