441 SS ~1mm wall tube - welding query

441 SS ~1mm wall tube - welding query

(OP)
Hi, does anyone have first-hand experience welding 441 thin wall tube - 46mm OD ~1mm wall thickness.

What welding technique is best suited, is filler rod used? If so what?
Is argon purging - pressurising the internals of the pipes - required?

This material is used in the auto industry for exhausts - am using it for heat exchanger - low pressure - water / exhaust gas.
Thanks for any advice.

Here is some background information to review regarding 441 stainless steel;

At 1mm thickness, I would use an inert metal arc gas welding process with no filler metal (autogenous). The Technical sheet from Allegheny provides information on welding.

Thanks metengr,
That seems to be good advice. I spoke to the steel mill that makes this material and they offer the same advice.
