Balancing of engines

Balancing of engines

(OP)
Anyone know of a good book that explains the principles of balancing a four cylinder engine?, including primary and secondary balance.
I already have Dalby's book but was looking for something more up to date, cheers

RE: Balancing of engines

"The Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice", volume 2, by CF Taylor, MIT Press.  There are several editions.  It has the largest section on balancing that I've found, plus an extensive bibliography.

I paid $100 for mine 25+ years ago, but if you're in the USA you can check it out via Inter-Library Loan, or perhaps find an inexpensive copy from one of the online used book vendors.
