Animation doesn't work on NX4

Animation doesn't work on NX4

Animation doesn't work on NX4

(OP)
Hi,
I'm unable to run any animation files.
Whenever I click on "Articulation" icon it opens error window saying "File not found". Same error comes when I click "Animation" icon.

I have tried Demo motion parts from Cast as well but same results.Could someone please help.

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Kevin

RE: Animation doesn't work on NX4

It is possible, that there is problem with you license. Are you sure su have license for animation?
By the way, what version of NX are you running?

RE: Animation doesn't work on NX4

Yes we have animation license and running NX4.

RE: Animation doesn't work on NX4

Have you installed all availabe mp's and mr's?

RE: Animation doesn't work on NX4

Have you previously created animations which DO work perhaps in earlier verions, so that you can say that you know you're doing everything correctly? If so you could perhaps test that your software in otherwise working okay by creating a simple animation in another file.

Sorry, I never tried animation before. I wish to create my own animation but I don't know where to start. That's why I was trying to learn from examples. Is there any other standalone animation software preferably freeware? I need to test simple toggle clamps sort of mechanisms.
Cheers,
Kevin

RE: Animation doesn't work on NX4

Have you tried using Assembly Sequencing?

What you do is build your Assembly, Constraining the Component as you would expect them to be assembled leaving freedom to move where you would expect it in the real world, such as where the parts of your clamp rotates.  Then go to...

Assemblies -> Sequencing

...and once in the Sequencing 'task' you can create a Sequence and then define an input (rotation or translation) to be applied to a component and then you play the sequence and watch the parts move.  You can set options to show interferences and so on.

Once you're in the Sequencing task, just press the 'F1' key and you'll get the user documentation which will cover most all aspects of setting-up and playing-back an Assembly Sequence.

Note that this is NOT a simulation product as there is no analysis taking place nor is any possible (except perhaps the interference checking).  But you can use it to study how mechanism will articulate and where there are interferences and where something might lock-up.  It's what some might call 'poor-man's kinematics'.

Anyway, give it a try and see if this meets your needs.

RE: Animation doesn't work on NX4

If you're just animating for visualisation purposes then the best starting point is with key frame animations. They're simpler but they're not the default. With a little luck following the documentation will provide enough assistance for you.

Thank you all who responded. I think I need to learn basic stuff of animation first.
