Roarks calculations for square tank

Roarks calculations for square tank

Roarks calculations for square tank

(OP)
We are asked to design and manufacture a square pressure tank based on Roarks calculations. As we usualy do circular pressure vessels we don't have calculation software for these type of tanks.

Does anyone have tips for good software or maby have an application/excel sheet for us?

Regards
Maarten

try http://www.gowelding.com/pv/square.pdf

it's a bit dated but the theory might be useful as a springboard to other work.

You might want to browse around the site a bit -- maybe in forum794: Boiler and Pressure Vessel engineering or forum292: ASME (mechanical) Code Issues.  If I remember correctly, you may need to design in a "blowout" spot that can then be positioned so that when/if the tank fails, that's the spot that goes first (in order to limit fatalities.
