ACAD 2010 and 3D Studio max OE

(OP)
I am lost with 3D and now so is a friend of mine, but I am trying to help.

He got a DWG from a client converted from 3D Studio max to 2010 format. My friend needs to convert this to 2007 format because most of us use 2008 and 9 (with 2007 format). However when he converts to 2007 format he gets a whole lot of proxy entities.

I suggested object enablers but when I surfed the net it all seemed rather Japanese.

When he explodes the proxys all the objects, polylines and what have you, are created, which is what he wants, but everything is throw onto layer 0, which then creates a huge job sorting objects.

Does anybody have any good ideas or OE links.

Cheers. Sean.

RE: ACAD 2010 and 3D Studio max OE

Get object enablers from the Autodesk site. They should be available, hopefully not only on subscription. Unfortunately the 2010 file type objects are all different to the earlier (2007) objects. It's annoying that there's no backwards compatibility.
