Search Summary Information fields

I'd like to be able to add some keywords to assemblies and parts,  and then be able to search these keywords afterwards.

For instance, in "summary information" (under properties) there are some informative text fields, where it is possible to add some basic information to your model. But is it possible to search these fields in either solidworks or Solidworks Explorer (we don't have PDM explorer)??

The "Solidworks Search" has the possibility to search in for instance "Author", but it doesn't seem to find anything (I've made sure that my direcory is in the search paths).

Basicly I'd like to have a easy way to tag models that could be usefull in other constructions.

Maybe there is a better solution??

RE: Search Summary Information fields

Have you tried to use the TAG option in SolidWorks

From solidworks Labs? I've looked at it, but it dosen't seems to include the possiblity to search?!

RE: Search Summary Information fields

I guess you are talking about the tagger from SWx labs. Even without using that program, directly in SWx you have this tags on the lower bottom corner. Click on the tag and type in your comment.

Regarding search, I think it works from withinh SWx filter (above the Feature mgr tree). Type in a value here, the contents of the feature manager reduces to show that meet the filter criteria.

But I am not sure about the SWx search, because its a windows search based.

Hmmm.... tried the Tags diaglog in sw, but as you mention, it seems that it is only possible to search within an active model in the feature manager tree.

I was looking for a way to find model-files on the harddrive.
