Strange Fittings on Siemens Turbine Control Oil

Strange Fittings on Siemens Turbine Control Oil

Strange Fittings on Siemens Turbine Control Oil

(OP)
We have a Siemens steam turbine on our site.  The control oil piping/tubing for the turbine has some strange tube fittings.  They are not swagelok or anything else that we recognize.  Does anyone else know what they are or where I can get more?  See the attached closeup pictures

RE: Strange Fittings on Siemens Turbine Control Oil

There are any number of types of fittings that could be used in this application. It is also dependant on location of manufacture. To be sure what type of fittings were used, why not contact Siemens and have the equipment model no. and serial no. at hand. Also, the fittings themselves may very well be located on the parts list in the manual.

Siemens has not been helpful.  We have made several inquiries regarding this issue and they have yet to respond to it.  We are looking at making some changes to the control oil system and want to be able to make the changes with a quick turnaround.  Cutting off and reusing the one side of the fitting takes extra time and therefore costs money.

Your fitting looks like an ORFS or OFS, both are  O-ring Face Seals, mainly used in hydraulics and gauges.    Not an exact answer but some good leads.

There is another type fittings that uses a male seat for this type fitting on the female side of the coupling.
An inch version of such a fitting. I haven't seen any listing for these in years.

This maybe the thread form.

These fittings do not have soft seats.  They are metal to metal.  I appreciate the tips though.

Try contacting Mr Jeff Painter at ABB in Richmond, VA. He is a field service engineer in their turbine division.  They have some similarly funky fittings for control oil, although I don't remember them being exactly like yours.

What type of turbine?

An (older) Westinghouse item, or newer one?

Looks like a union of sorts.  Metal to metal seal, ridge to groove.

It's a Siemens turbine.  It was installed in the early 90's.

I finally found the answer.  They are Dilo fittings.  Thanks for all the suggestions.  If you're curious the link to the catalogue is below.

Thanks for the feedback as it may help some one else down the line.  We don't see too many.

That is probably the fitting iIsaw several years ago as it was on welded tubing system holding some b=very bad acting material.

RE: Strange Fittings on Siemens Turbine Control Oil

A little anecdotal information.
Siemens isn't the only user as the short reference I made in my original post was to Dilo fittings. Even though the pilot plant using these fittings is been shut down a friend checked the fab shop and there were a couple of Dilo fittings still on the shelf along with Autoclave fittings.
