External translator issue

External translator issue

(OP)
Is there any way to speed up the external translator functions?

Windows XP SP3/ UGNX 6.03

When I go to the Start -> UGS NX6.0 -> Translators
then say select Iges or Step, It take 25-30 seconds before the import/export window shows up, then after selecting that another 20 seconds before the file selections window pops up, then click the folder option and another 20-30 seconds to be able to scroll through my files.. after that it speeds up to a normal speed for the rest of the selections.

Any ideas?

RE: External translator issue

I can understand an slight delay for intialising the application and acquiring the licence, but I experience no further delays after that in getting the file selection window to present itself for example.

Could you perhaps tell us what sort of hardware and memory configuration you have and whether you're running across a network. I wonder if there are other factors affecting the performance of your machine. One way to tell would be to ensure that no other applications are running the next time you fire up a translator session. If it is quicker then the system may just be overloaded with other apps.

Best Regards
