Looking For Paper By VT Morgan

Looking For Paper By VT Morgan

(OP)
To All:

I'm looking for this paper:

"Rating of Conductors For Short Duration Currents", V.T. Morgan, Proc. IEE, Vol. 118, No. 314, March/April 1971.

Any help getting this paper would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Linda Hall Library in Kansas City can probably get this. I think they have an on-line document service.

Thanks....

I checked with them and they appear to have it.

The best lead I've had all month.

Thanks Again,

Worked out great - got it today....

Thanks

You might be interested in the attached Mathcad workbook that uses Morgan's method to calculate short term ampacity and compares it to a simple adiabatic method (from IEEE std 80) and a method from an old Siemens cable handbook (that I don't have access to anymore).

PECMemphis - I'm glad that worked out. LHL is just a few miles from my home. It's one of the better technical libraries in the U.S. but is relatively unknown. I remember as a child they had a card catalog (remember those?) room that was larger than some libraries.

The latest version of MathCAD I have is 2001, do you know what version it take to run the file you sent? Can it be saved to be compatible with 2001?

Thanks,

Well, that version didn't work either.

There is a version 2001 vs. 2001i ?

Can the file be saved in 2001, or earlier?

========

Does the MathCAD file make the calculations under condition (g) as referenced in the Morgan paper - that is the case where there is an asymmetrical short-circuit.

The Morgan paper does not give the method for calculating "t" (tau)- the time constant for AC and DC components, nor for I(p)(initial peak current value) or I(m) (peak current value). It refers to other literature for calculation of these values.

Does the MathCAD file indicate the calculation of these values?

Thanks...
