I wish to add Glycol to existing ch
I wish to add Glycol to existing ch
(OP)
I wish to add Glycol to existing chilled water circulation system to protect against freezing. The percentage of Glycol to the full system water volume is 20%
What effect will this have in terns of increased pressure drop and specific heat capacity.
Is there a percentage that can be is added to the friction losses of the standard pipe sizing data that makes allowance for any effect that the Glycol will have upon the system.

You will get specific heat data for various brines in Perry's Chemical Engineer's Hand Book. There are graphs showing concentration vs specific heats.

Truth: Even the hardest of the problems will have atleast one simple solution. Mine may not be one.

Thank you for your interest: The product is "Monoethylene" which I have been led to believe is Ethylene Glycol.
Your advice will be most appreciated.
